Beach Bag Essentials

  • Hey Loves! F & J here!

Our Hawaii trip is arriving much quicker than we anticipated. Time is flying! We are super excited and we can’t wait to share our trip with you! We wanted to share some of the prep we are doing to make our trip much more enjoyable! We wrote up  a list of some of our favorite suncare essentials, which you can check out here! We decided it might be helpful to you guys to put together a list of what we are planning to put in our beach bags so we can have a stress free day at the beach, while having our basics covered.

Mini Hair Brush-We love to use Wet brushes because they can tame even the wildest beach hair with minimal pain! We all know the ocean salt mixed with the breeze can leave a wild mane to tame!!

Face and Body Sun Screen- It is important to keep our skin protected from the harsh rays of the sun and it is important to have extra in your bag so you can reapply!

Water Proof Mascara-We strive to go as natural as we can when on a beach vacay but sometimes a girl needs some mascara! Which is why we opt for a water proof one!

Makeup Wipes- Sometimes even water proof mascara can’t stand up to the waves of the ocean! Make sure to have some wipes handy to clean up any makeup smudges! F knows from personal experiences black eyes from make up are hard to get off with just water alone!

Moisturizer- After being in the sun for so long it is important to moisturizer our skin! The sun takes a lot from our skin and we need to make sure we keep it hydrated.

Tanning Lotions-Might as well take advantage of soaking up the rays while at the beach!

Aloe- Healthy for your skin, but this stuff feels amazing to put on your skin if you suffer a burn. *Tip: Put in the fridge before you go for a cooling effect.

Sun Glasses-We like to bring a cheap pair to the beach so we don’t have to worry if we lose them, or they break.

Water Bottle- It’s important to stay hydrated from the inside so you can have tons of energy!

Small Snack- We like bringing a lean protein like turkey jerky to keep us energized.

Chapstick with an SPF- Can’t forgot to protect your kisser!

Let us know if there is something we should add to our list so we don’t forget anything! Have fun at the beach!

Real Talk

Hey Loves! F & J here!

We know it has been way too long since we have last posted. We just wanted to check in and let you know what has been going on in our lives. We are not writing this as giant excuse as to why we haven’t posted, we just have been really busy. We plan to get back to posting more regularly once we get back from our trip to Hawaii which we leave for next week! Admittedly we have had set plenty of time to work on the blog but life always got in the way. Honestly sometimes it was us being too exhausted and we wouldn’t have made a blog post worthy of sharing.

We always want to put out our best work, and we always strive to put a lot of effort in what we do, so we did not want to half ass anything. We feel like that wouldn’t be fair to the you guys or even to us.

We have been under a lot of stress around planning this vacation. We know vacations are supposed to be fun and carefree. But the planning is always stressful. We are going for work which means we are having to coordinate with a third party, so we are feeling like we have no control, and we aren’t able to plan the way we would like. Of course we are extremely thankful and excited for this opportunity but we are just being honest with you guys.

We do plan on posting some stuff related to our trip and we are really excited to share that with you, but in the meantime just hang tight.

Until next time…

Love,

F & J

Sun Care Faves

Hey Loves! F & J here!

If you have read our previous posts you might know that we are going to Hawaii! We are super thrilled to have such an amazing opportunity. We have so much to plan for but most importantly we have been thinking about how we need to keep our skin protected from the sun! Being from Seattle our skin does not get exposed as much, so it can be a bit more sensitive to constant sunshine. A lesson that J had to learn the hard way in Florida. Even though F usually tans thanks to her olive complexion she still knows how important it is to keep our skin protected.

We have done a lot of research and tested out a lot of products and decided to round up our favorite brands and products that make sun protection something  we want to do, while smelling amazing.

Face:

Bali Body BB cream with SPF 15– This tinted BB cream offers all natural coverage and sun protection. It’s a win win!

Super Goop Defense Refresh Setting Spray with SPF 50– This product has a much stronger SPF which is nice to help protect our faces-one of the most easily burned places on our body! Its nice that you can apply it after your make up, and offers a matte finish.

Body:

Australian Gold Botanical with SPF 30– A natural Sunscreen that is good for your skin! We call that a win!

Lip:

Sun Bum Lip Balm with SPF 30– Sometimes we forget to protect our lips but with this product you won’t forget, it smells so good you could eat it!

After Sun Care:

Beach Bum Cool Down Hydration After Sun Lotion– It is super important to hydrate your skin after sun exposure, this product does the job and leaves you smelling like summer! Tip: Put this product in the fridge before you head out, so by the time you are ready to moisturize it is sure to cool you down.

Most importantly keep yourself hydrated inside your body too and drink lots of water!

If you have any favorite sun protection products let us know we are always on the lookout for more.

F & J

Churro Cake

IMG_2080.JPGHey Loves! F & J here!

F’s little sister recently turned 11. She really loves churros and so we made a churro cake we found off Pinterest. It was recipe for cupcakes but we decided to make it a two layered cake instead!

It was super easy, and we have to improvise a little when we realized we didn’t have some ingredients. We topped the cake with a cinnamon and sugar mix and churros.
The churro cake was absolutely delicious! We will definitely make it again!

Happy Baking!

Happy Mothers Day

Hey Loves! F & J here!

We just wanted to say a Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mamas out there. You guys have one of the most important jobs of all times. We know we would be nothing without our moms.

We were blessed with some amazing moms who taught us to love and raised us to be the women we are. We both hope our moms know how much we love them and how blessed we are to have them.

Remember to give your mom all the love she deserves today. And everyday!

Who Are We?

IMG_2220IMG_2219Hey Loves! F & J Here!

Not to long ago we got back our results from 23 and Me. We had thought about trying one of the at home DNA tests for a while since we thought it would be interesting to see what our results would be.

They went on sale on at 23 and Me so we decided to purchase them. We were mailed a kit with instructions to follow for collecting our saliva and how to properly seal it up and send it back. And then it was just a giant waiting game!

F’s results came in faster than J’s (something to do with having to retest). Let us tell you, it is so oddly fascinating to look at your results! It’s very interesting to look at the data you’re given and see what your DNA says about who you are! Especially since both of our families don’t have much knowledge on their ancestors. Check out our results above!

Another fun thing about 23 and Me is that it tells you how much Neanderthal DNA you have compared to others. F is on the low side of having neanderthal in her DNA, and J has more than 98% of people who have previously tested on 23 and Me! (It is only a very very little percentage of your overall DNA).

If you were considering trying 23 and Me to find out what your DNA says about you we highly recommend it!

Hawaii Trip

Hey Loves! F & J Here!

We are so excited to share with you that we will be going to Kauai in June! We have officially booked our flights and have a nice place to stay. We cannot tell you enough how excited we are. We love the beach and any opportunity to get tan!

Kauai is the smallest Hawaiian island and is, from what we hear, a beautiful place to relax. We are looking forward to getting to enjoy all of the beautiful views.

If anybody has any suggestions of what we should do while we are there we would love to hear them!

Love,

F & J
